Snapped these at the beach yesterday.
The first picture is of a California Brown Pelican (Pelecanus Occidentalis Californicus), which has been making a comeback in recent years.
Even more rare in beach locales, however, is the South Central Ghetto Bird (Falconidae Comptonicus), which is clearly visible in picture 2. It made a few passes and then, apparently realizing that this was not the habitat of its usual prey, swooped past and made a beeline inland.
As I reapplied sunblock and reached for another handful of Cheeze-Its, I marveled at the natural beauty of our world. I felt like I was in an episode of wild kingdom!
