Looks a little late for a slide. Seen a Girl blowout her knee sliding in late and hard. Also boy break ankle in 3 places.

Why oh why don't they make all infielders wear shin guards, chest protectors and face masks?

No kidding - I have one like that with my kid's eyes shut, no where near as clear.
