Showcase tournament teams

What's on your mind?

by Mom2softball » Mon Jun 09, 2008 5:16 pm

Is it true that teams need to be "approved" to be in Showcase tournaments? And that they will turn down a team if they are not well known or a part of an established organization?
If that is true, then is that something to consider when selecting a travelball team for a 12U or 14U?
If it is not true. On what basis are teams allowed to participate in Showcase tournaments (first come first served or unlimited, etc.)?

True and not true. Some showcases will try and hold spots for the well known organizations, turning down teams to get them a spot.

Now, you can also get let in to the showcases, regardless of who you are, but you will be playing at a field 5 miles away from the main site. In some instances there are 2 main sites which will have strong teams at both of them. You will still not get at the site though.

Scouts will come to watch you if you send out your letters. I have heard many coaches and parents on this site state that they have not played on the teams with the good ole' boys and still get the scouts out to see their kid. You have to put the work in.

My dd wasn't even playing in a showcase this weekend and a scout approached our 18G coach and asked about her. You just never know.
