Not so bad in Midland/Odessa

What's on your mind?

Well despite the issues other teams have had at 14-U Nationals we had a good time in Midland/Odessa. Our coach addressed our team the 1st day and said that this trip wasn't only about softball but it was also about making memories with teamates and family. Although we didn't have the best accomodations we made the best of it. Our team had a great time terrorizing our coach all week, playing with Whoopy cushions, wearing "Bubba" teeth, and generally having a great time being kids. Opening ceremonies was AWESOME! Being in that stadium was too cool. My family went to visit Permian HS (Friday Night Lights) and we also went to Ratliff Sports Complex where we saw 2 of the most beautiful softball fields that we have ever seen. 2 Identical fields 50ft from each other. Permian HS and Odessa HS have awesome softball "complexes" that rival some of the best college fields we've seen in California. We asked some local people if the town really shuts down during football games and they confirmed that "Texans take thier sports seriuosly!" I have to say that the people of Odessa/Midland were some of the nicest people we have ever met. EVERYONE was so polite and kind. It was actually uncomfortable to experience people being so courtiuos and warm. We hope that everyone had as good a time as we had. I only wish we could have gone farther in bracket play but...........there is always next year(starting 3 weeks from now :D) Congrats to Lakewood and Victory. See you in the fall.
