Softball vs other interests

What's on your mind?

I saw the post on why SoCal domitates. I was wondering what if any other activities your young ladies are involved in?

Do any of your girls hunt, raise animals for FFA/4H etc?
DD raises Show pigs, goats and Rabbits
I know that we hunt from Sept. 1 (dove) Oct.1 Bow hunt deer/hogs, gun hunt squirrel, rabbit .then in Nov. gun hunt deer/hogs and ducks/geese.till the first of the year.
Then we try to get a trip to the snow for some skiing and fun in the snow.
This is in addition to School sports ,Volleyball and Basketball w/ track in the spring
not to mention water skiing and other fun etc. substitute surfing etc. for west coast.
this would include batting lessons/pitching where indicated (DD gave it up 2 yrs ago)
Just wondering if you exclude other activities for for exclusive softball?

Thanks in advance for you responses

My DD doesn't hunt but we try to go camping while they go hunting (I gave up hunting a few years ago when driving the DD taxi seemed more important at the time)

Used to raise pigs and do dog shows, but with three sports going its hard to find time for that.

We always go to the snow during the winter at least once.

This summer we took our first vacation where we told the all the summer school sports we were going, until this summer she was at every summer function for the school. She never missed and I never missed being the number one volunteer. My DD was always worried about being a leader etccc...this year we just told her we were going on vacation and she went, the sky didn't fall...everything was the same when we came back. Coaches finally lightened up and and realized that she needed something other then school sports all the time. Skiing for the old folks, wakeboarding for the young ones and jet skiing, , it was fun to just be out playing as a family.

Mine plays elite basketball (she just got back from San Diego to complete her July touring with her basketball team) and gold softball. She also plays volleyball, basketball and softball in school. She quit playing Club Volleyball this last year just because we could no longer fit it all in and its so stressful trying to make all happy and really not be being able to.

Interesting question, but definately a reality.
I am on my 3rd daughter through softball. Middle daughter is playing college ball on a great scholarship. In the last 15 years my wife and I have spent most of our wedding anniversaries on the softball field. Up to high school, all 3 played multiple sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball). In high school they all turned their attention to softball. We have sacraficed much to keep our children in these activities. There has only been one major vacation in 15 years. No trips to Hawaii, or Europe, etc. Owensburough, Ky, or Lancaster, Ca. don't count. The family time off is scheduled between Nationals, and school starting. We now start with Fall tryouts in August, play Fall Ball, in January have Summer tryouts, prepare for High School ball which starts in February, and the day of our HS Section Championships also starts the Summer travel season.

The better question....
Is there any negetive result on the "family", or the "athlete, student, child"?
So far I can say I am a blessed man to have the children I have. They are all good students, and have absolutely no problems resulting from drugs, crime, etc. I believe they have all learned many life lessons from their level of participation in sports, which they apply to school, friends, and free time. None have been "forced" to participate. We have quite the common bond, and that is the hours, locations, and miles, we have spent together, and or separtated, playing softball. Many weekends my wife & I have had to divide & conquer.

I admit, I do coach travel softball, and High School softball.
Yes, We are in California.
