Chicagoland Tourney and NFCA Camp

What's on your mind?

by jgoran5 » Fri Aug 08, 2008 9:00 am

The Homer Hawks are hosting our 6th annual college exposure tournament October 10-13. We currently have over 70 teams that have applied to participate and are growing. For the first time we are hosting an NFCA exposure camp in conjunction with the tourney. Last year without the NFCA camp we hosted 64 teams and over 40 college coaches.

We have 11 Gold teams as of today

We are seeking the best of the best and would like to encourage the west coast teams to look into participating in our tournament. As many of you know for the first time in 30 years the 18U ASA Nationals consisted of 2 Midwest teams. The defending National champions will be in the tourney.

We have now exceeded "100" 16U and 18U teams for our tournament. We can still accept applications for our NFCA camp that will allow athletes to be seen by many midwestern college coaches.

Players may sign up for the camp even though there team is not participating.

This will be the largest Exposure tournament and NFCA Camp in the Midwest with over 90 teams and over 60 college coaches....don't miss out....sign up right now....

Over 90 teams have entered our Homer Hawks tournament in Elgin, Illinois on October 10-12, 2008. We look forward to there participation and wish them good luck as they face some of the best competition in the country. Please check out our web site to see the current list of participating teams and the pre-registration by college coaches (http://www.homerhawks.com).

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has endorsed our Exposure Camp prior to the tournament on Friday, October 10. This camp is a great way for your athletes to be evaluated in a drills format by college coaches. The coaches spot talent during the camp and follow this talent as the teams compete throughout the weekend.

Please share the Exposure Camp information with your athletes so that they can make a participation decision before the September 1 deadline. No payment is necessary until the online application is sent and the camp acceptance letter is received. The completed application includes all the pertinent information needed by colleges coaches, including contact information, GPA, test scores, academic and athletic honors and current softball stats. All accepted camp applicant profiles are included in the book that is handed to college coaches in attendance on camp day.

To apply for the camp, go to: http://www.nfca.org/camps. The Camp FAQ (frequently asked questions) link is helpful in answering most questions about camp participation.

We expect large numbers of college coaches at this camp and tournament for two reasons: (1) The weekend date is within the Division I recruiting calendar and (2) the tournament field is very competitive with lots of entries from gold teams. So don’t forget to get this Exposure Camp information to your athletes. It could be very beneficial in their search for scholarship opportunities.

Thanks again for your interest in the Homer Hawks camp and tournament. Please contact me if I can be of further assistance.
