Where did "Go with it" and "Turn on it" start?

Played SoCal 14U friendlies and tournaments this year and had about a quarter of the teams we came across (mostly '94 teams) checking the location of the catcher and then yelling the above during the pitch to their own batter from the dugout.

Just wondering if it is the new "trend" in softball

the girls see other girls doing it, and they do it.
and now it has been shortened to "go with", and "turn"...
so train your catchers to jump around, and bang their mitts like the japanese catchers in the olympics...
just like when they saw the thick headbands, so for a while they wore thick headbands...then they saw the sparkly headbands, so they wore those...

We've seen parents doing it too.....2 different games in Utah back in July...It was kind of funny

At State's, we played a team where the coaches have about 6 girls trying to steal our pitching signs so we had our catcher call them. Well the other coaches were freaking to the point of hanging out of the dugout trying to see the catchers fingers...

My daughters team played two different teams from Oregon at 16U ASA Nationals where the first base coaches yelled out the location of the pitch. Our coach and the catcher had fun messing with his head. Our coach would tap his outside leg, coach would yell "outside", catcher would set up inside then coach would yell "No, inside" How bush league.

Didn't matter, the batters couldn't catch up to the pitch anyways.
