Looking for a bat

What's on your mind?

by dittoz » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:34 am

Bought DD a 31" Techzilla and she just isn't strong enough to handle it at this point.
She's a very small kid and we thought the TZ would be a more balanced, easier to handle affair than the end-loaded RT.

As it turns out, the TZ feels even heavier to her than the 31/22 RT she was trying to swing...

Now, after a couple months, she's decided that the TZ is just too much bat for her so it's sitting there unused and we're off searching for yet another stick... Anderson's 30-day try-it deal is great, but we're well past that timeframe.

Anyone have a 31/21 Phenix or the orange TPS or perhaps a Halo/Halo-lite you'd be interesting in parting with? She's been happy swinging a couple of her teammates' bats and those seem to be the ones. I don't want to go out and buy a new one as she is on the verge of a growth spurt and to have yet another unusable bat a few months down the road would be beyond frustrating!

Shot in the dark, I realize, but...

Kelly's Ultimate Sports has the 2008 Miken Halo -10 (31", 32", 33", 34") on sale for $199. Here's the link:

It seems to be a good deal given the new bat speed limitations on all 2009 composite models.

Check the actual weight of the bat, you might have gotten a heavy one. A friend of mine had a scale and was weighing various bats that he had collected over the years and found that some of them varied by as much as three ounces. Has anyone else ever done this?

"Check the actual weight of the bat, you might have gotten a heavy one."

Some bat companies make the handle heavier, and call the stated weight "swing weight".
It's astounding, time is fleeting.

Anderson does in fact refer to it as "swing weight". I'm holding it up against the end-loaded RT and it still feels heavier. Just feeling it, I'd bet this bat weighs in the neighborhood of 23-24 ozs.

Considering my DD is 4'8 and 70lbs, that's a pretty heavy bat! Hence, the lighter and balanced bats...
