Bay Area Showcase

I just wanted to let everyone know that my family and I had the most greatest time up in San Jose this weekend. I have not seen so many college coaches in awhile at one place. Seemed like their was 100 of them. Very well organized, great staff. The big guy named Kris was awesome. He was a great amabassador for the event. We came because of him and what he promised 6 months ago he delivered. Thank you to Brian also for the hotels. I cant wait for the next one since my daughter has one more year of this.

I will have to agree with you. It was very well ran and there were a great many schools there.
Everyone connected with this showcase was very nice and it was a pleasure being there.
Our hotel was excellant as well. We will be back next year as well.

We too were VERY happy with this showcase. Having it at ONE location was awesome! The fields we well kept and staff was helpful. Heck, even the umpires seemed pretty decent...

It was very awesome weather for Nor Cal...I love the way this complex is formatted because there are so many central fields not so far apart so college coaches are constantly seen at all games! One thing dd's team kept commenting on was the fields and how it was at was sort of slanted? But overall the team(and definetly parents) enjoyed staying in Nor Cal for weekend of good showcase.

Thank you for all the great feedback. We're glad everyone had a good time, college coaches and teams alike. The softball gods looked down upon us favorably. We're in for a weekend of rain beginning tonight. What a difference a week makes.

As far as the sloped fields are concerned, this is something the fastpitch community has been begging Twin Creeks to do something about for years. Unfortunately, Twin Creeks has very few rainouts and one of the reasons why is because the fields drain so well. Bunting is a challenge on some fields. But, it is one of the best complexes in Northern California, and so we take the good with the bad. In any case, the tournament met and exceeded our expectations, and we couldn't have done it without the participating teams, and college coaches who took a chance on us and attended.

The really nice thing about the Bay Area showcase was that it was at a venue that could actually support 16 teams playing at one time at one location. This is in stark contrast to the Surf City "exposure" tournaments where 90% of the teams get seen on a field out in hells half acre by 2 community colleges looking for warm bodies. If you are part of the elite 10%, all is well assuming you have done your prep work with letters, emails, videos, blah, blah, blah. If you have done your homework and are on one of the frontier fields 30 miles from the primary, all you and your team have done is generate revenue for Surf City.

The really nice thing about the Bay Area showcase was that it was at a venue that could actually support 16 teams playing at one time at one location.

Actually, Twin Creeks has 10 lighted fields so 20 teams can play at one time. A nice thing about this showcase was the fact that they capped it at 54 teams. The Bay Area certainly has enough fields to support a very large tournament, but that's not the objective. Leave the big tournaments to the big boys (So Cal). We're happy with what we got.

Wow, this would be a tournament worth considering, 54 teams all at the same place with plenty of scouts. Surf City Classic is nice if you are at the main complex and if you are local but I like the chances of being seen in a smaller complex.
