ASA ACE Certification/ background check

What's on your mind?

I believe the background checks are good for at least two years.... All they do is see if you have a criminal record, doesn't mean there aren't shady folks out there who just haven't been caught. Just ask West Grove Girls Softball League, a girl was molested there by an assistant coach who passed all background checks because it was his first offense....

Background checks only catch people who have already been caught which should already be known if coaches and team associates are properly vetted by the parents.

Fear of many is that if enough people are not caught, the scope of the check will be broadened. All of a sudden, a 20-year old open container violation will disqualify, not to mention ruin any positive reputation, of an individual who has lived an exemplary adult life.

Sorry, but we live in a chicken little "society" where people will dig as deep as possible to discredit anyone and that in itself is a damn shame.

Does anyone know if that coach from TNL is back to coaching or is he banned? I have heard the ORG is still competing....

He is back coaching, in the dugout and coaching third base. He was not convicted, I think it was a mistrial

The coach from WGG was telling everyone he was a cop. Unbelievable. I hope the fellas have him air tight tonight.
