It's not just how bad a team is, good teams don't always qualify. It is how good your draw is..

It doesn't really help anyone but it will bring in about 25 to 30K.

There will be a second classifying tournament Feb. 13-15 where 16 more teams will classify. 14 teams classified by going to 18 Gold ASA Nationals in 2008. Only 54 teams will be classified Gold out of SoCal.

The pressure is on, do or die. What happens if it rains that weekend? That is the last weekend before the high school break I believe. That will be a good weekend to watch some gold games, talk about stress. Some teams will fold if they don't get classified.

ASA already has a rain make up date. My guess is the following weekend before high school scrimmages start.

There were also some "name" teams that had comparatively easy draws and didn't get it done. The pressure will be intense to classify in mid-Feb for those teams.

That's true at a real qualifier. Not so much at a second classification tournament when all of the big boys were already not included in the first one.

Chances are if you're in the Feb tournament you're not that good. Sure there's probably exceptions. If you fail at the Feb tournament, you're almost certainly not that good. Not good enough to qualify for Gold Nationals anyway.
