Trying to find out what the fiedls and town is like for this seasons championship? Are the games set up at more than one complex like Indiana was last year? How about the fences are they deep or do they set up temporary fences?

We were in Johnson City for 10u Nationals in 2005. I think all the games were played at the main complex. They used temporary fences that were reachable. Some of the games were played under the lights.

Johnson City Tennessee? If so, I assume it's at Winged Deer Park. It's one of the nicer sets of fields I've been to, for what that's worth.

They have a 4 field clover leaf, with more space between the fields than other places I've been to, and a 5th field off to the side, fairly nice parking, a decent concession stand in the middle, etc.

The fields are normally in good shape, but the infields will probably be pretty hard, depending on the time of year/weather. They usually look nice, but are about like playing on asphalt with a thin layer of dirt covering it....but, they could definitely be worse. They are level, rock-free, etc.

The fields are only a couple miles from several hotels and restaurants. Last year we usually stayed at a Holiday Inn that was being renovated in the lobby, but we got rooms on Priceline for $45 a night, which was a pretty good deal IMHO, even with the renovation going on.

Edit>> The permanent fences are 300', but they have the temporary ones for fastpitch games (the white ones that come in sections and hook together).

Nice complex.bring a g.p.s,the hills make it hard to find your bearings.Oh yeah,lots of lightning and rain showers.We played a couple of games at 1am.The people were friendly.

Spoken like a flatlander?

A couple things I forgot to mention...they have decent bleachers and some shade trees between the fields (which was nice, it gave us a place for our 2 year old to lay down and nap last year).

Also, probably the poorest organized tournament we played in last year was an ASA tournament at Winged Deer. It was a 3 day tournament, but our pool didn't play on Friday evening. That was fine, but we played at 8 am Saturday, which meant we had to go down Friday night anyway (about 2.5 hours away), but we were used to that, so no biggie.

So, we start at 8 Sat morning, play 3 pool games, go 2-1, start the double elim round sometime Sat afternoon....win our first one, so we have a game break, and play again. We lost that one, so I figured we were finished until the next day (you usually are after your first loss in a double elim, at least around here, so everyone gets to Sunday). Nope, we had to play again. We won that one somehow, so I'm thinking surely that was it...nope, the tournament director comes and tells us he is trying to get as many games done as he can, so everyone doesn't have to come back Sunday (wth?), so we have to play another game. It started at 7:30 and ended around 8:30, so in 12 1/2 hours, we played 7 games. The last team we played was on their 6th game of the day, and we lost a close one (both teams played better than I expected), Thank Goodness, because the winner had to play at 8 am the next morning. A couple girls were on vacation (including our #1 pitcher), so we only had 10 girls, I don't think they would have been worth much at 8 the next morning.

Maybe it's normal for a team to play all 7 games in one day at a 3 day tournament, but it's the only time I've seen it happen.

Wow I have never heard of seven games in one day, thats nuts. Thanks to everyone for the information.
