What's on your mind?

by sportzjunky » Fri May 16, 2008 3:18 pm

Good luck to Art & 12U Anderson Heat this weekend.... I dont think any of the So Cal 12U teams want to deal with that group at States and Id like to see his team get that berth so it opens up a slot for another So Cal team at Nats... Good luck in Colorado ANDERSON HEAT!! Bring home that berth!

I like the pool play plus double-elim format. So it takes about 45 games to determine a winner in a four-team tourney...

Please help me understand. Why would a team as strong as Anderson Heat go out of state to qualify? They have an excellent chance of winning states.

I'm confused.....

We are a first year 12u team so new to the whole qualifying process. I really just want to know the logic behind traveling all that way when a tournament an hour away from home will accomplish the same goal.

Getting a berth at SoCal States is no gimme, even for a team as strong as AH. Get a bad draw and you could be in trouble. Going to Colorado is another story. Better to have more than one plan to get a berth. Teams like AH put the T in Travel Ball. That's all I got.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Art defnitely has a team that has a shot at Nationals, and simulatainiously runs the risk of enough bad luck/breaks to not win states, plus no one is immune to an occasional breakdown... The regional tourney is no walk in the park either.Qualify now and the only thing they need to worry about this coming Monday is preparing for the National title, whereas 99% of everyone else still has to wonder what thier spring 2008 ASA future entails. I wont say the Colorado teams are a cakewalk but traditionally colorado 12U hasnt been filled with a caliber team like Art's...

Let me say it, in short.... Art is smArt.

I think its pretty cowardly to go out of state and take a berth away from the only chance these Colorado teams have to qualify for nationals. Hey If you can't comptete in your own state and qualify then you don't deserve to go. I could see why California has a bad reputation from other staes when it comes to softball. Prey on the weak to fullfill your goals I guess......good luck Anderson Heat for finding the easy way out.

After commencing with "I think" it was pretty much inevitable that your post would go downhill from there.

It did.
