I really hope the Aggies pull this off. What a show of Texas softball power, all but 1 player on the A&M roster is from Texas (and most from the south ). Gibson is awesome and she has shown that she can do it all, unlike most other pitchers at that level. ASU will be a tough one to beat though, so my fingers are crossed.

There was a funny exchange between the commentators on the subject of Gibson. They all agreed she was a great athlete. Then the following exchange occurred:

Kruk: That's what makes Gibson so special. When you see her fielding her position and hitting the way she does, you realize what a great athlete she truly is, not like a lot of pitchers.

*Silence*

Mendoza: All pitchers are athletes.

Kruk: You haven't seen some of the pitchers I've played with.

What you are seeing now is a changing of the guard. Nobody stays dominant forever. Although 20 some odd years for the PAC 10 is pretty darn close. With the ever growing popularity of the sport and the selections made by the top west coast schools, the other girls in this state need somewhere to play as well. If they just missed being picked up by U of A, or UCLA, or AZ. state, they definately could be picked up by a school in the midwest or on the east coast. Make no mistake the rest of the other 49 states can ball too and in the future the WCWS WILL be "anybodys" series to win. If my daughter is fortunate enough to play softball at the collegiate level I don't care where she plays as long as she is studying and playing to her fullest potential.

#1 Florida and #3 Bama held up the proud SEC tradition of flameouts in the post season.

I still don't understand why they didn't seed ASU higher. I thought they were the favorite all along. Great pitching and great hitting.

Kruk is the best thing that has happened to women's softball broadcasting in years. Kruk's actual commentary on the game/players/coaches, etc. instead of the annual big group hug is refreshing. I heard from sources that Kruk volunteered for this assignement. I've always wondered why women announcers felt like they had to sound like they are calling the Little League World Series intead of the Women's College World Series. The camera work still needs upgrading and the field reporter is laughable, but maybe this is sign that next year they will dump Mowins and Mendoza and put Kruk, Joe Morgan, and Cat in the booth!

Nah it's okay. I'm getting used to them now and am quite glad they're in the final. I'm hoping they'll try to make Burkhart cry (since they're so proud of doing so to Miss Osterman) so I can watch her climb into the stands and kick some rebel ass.
