Your family got bitten by the softball bug and you have spent many a summer at the fields and have toured America via the softball complexes. Your daughters have played for good coaches, bad coaches, cried, celebrated, injured themselves and spent a lot of money. What words of wisdom would you offer a recent victim?
Spazsdad wrote:Exactly! I know I probably wouldn't get to spend this much time with my teenage DD without softball. We have a good time when traveling around ( O.K. I do, I hope she feels the same way)
I'm sure she does Spaz. I wouldnt trade this time with my Daughter for anything!!!
So being sick and hurt the kid shouldn't say anything?
Just a question as my dd did that in 12u and was belittled for being a quiter. In her head now and this weekend she was pretty sick again and her arm started to hurt. She was afraid to say anything. Started to show and coaches again called her a quiter. Lesson she learned, you get called a quiter regardless if you say anything or not. Just live with it and move on to the next game. The tears only lasted about 10 min anyway.
alot of good answers... keep it fun! I still forget from time to time that these are young girls, although we laugh alot more these days than a few years ago... after all is said and done, remember, it's still a game. It should be fun, whether you are 8 or 80!
Enjoy every waking minute with your child, they'll be gone before you know it and you will actually miss the long drives, sweltering/freezing weekends, annoying parents and smelly cleats.
