>> Somewhere between $200 and $250 probably. Obviously <<

Something that has saved us money in hotel stays in a) hotels that serve a decent breakfast, i.e. eggs, sausage, bacon, yogurt, healthy cereal ( or I should say healthy cereal the kids will heat), and hotels that award points for future stays.

The group that seems to benefit us the most is the Comfort Suites, their awards program is Choice Priviledges. The hotels in our part of the world are nice and a lot of them are the large 'suite' rooms, they always have breakfast, some are better than others. The points add up. What I dont know and havent checked carefully enough is how big a difference there is between their prices and others like La Quinta, Best Western, etc and how close are we to saving money. I do stay on top of the points program and make sure they are recorded properly.

This is excellent advice. We actually build points with Choice Privileges (which also includes Holiday Inns, etc.), La Quinta and Hilton Family Hotels (Hampton Inn is our preference). All of these hotel chains have excellent to good complimentary breakfasts and comfortable rooms. More than once we've come in to a late check in at LaQuinta and the guy at the desk takes one look at dd in her uniform looking all dirty and tired and bumps us to a nicer room. Also agree with pp - the points build up quickly and I'll redeem them for a bigger tourney that is a little further away where we might need to stay more than one night.

ETA: I forgot to include that LaQuinta runs "weekend specials" on varying hotel locations for specific weekends with rates from $49 - $69. We've stayed a couple of times in the King Suite for $49 and been very comfortable - free breakfast to boot!
