New list: 1. Sting -Bob- Overall best team out there,great pitching!

I dunno what they are feeding them rickets girls... I called games with their sisters before they went D1, and I called the lefty last year (kay kate?).. Much improved from last year. She was brining it!.. maybe the best of them all. I was on the dish for 2 or 3 sting games and both of the girls pitched. Great team. Power, speed, and those girls in the circle, they will be in the running.

Interesting you left out Strike Zone - Don....

He's a fun coach though.. he came up and hung out with the umps BSing. Heaven help the rookie blue who runs into Don.. its very ugly...

Interesting list as the top teams on your list were on the list when this question was asked early in January, below. Would have loved to have seen the Sharks and Valley Stompers go at it as they played 16's this past weekend, but one was at Northgate and the other in Galt. Saw that the Cal Breeze played in the HOF Qualifier and finished 3rd with a win over American Athletic.

List composed by DBLUE in January:
1. Lady Sharks- Hands down the team to beat this year!
2. Strikkers - Good squad, good pitching, good athletes.
3. Strkezone - Always puts out a good team.
4. Stompers - (This is for NapoleonD, not too sure about this pick)
5. Grapettes - Young, but good athletes, could gel quickly.
6. Fresno Force - They have some proving to do, might be short stay in top 10.
7. Breeze - They are always a fun team to watch, good athletes.
8. RR Gold - Heard they have a good chance to be good, let me know.
9. Mize Diamonds - Good athletes, decent pitching, coaching is the question mark!

Your right about the lineups. But, it's not like they had a team of twenty out there, and played the whole second team.

Response: Sorcerer batted 14 kids


I saw who was on the field, and I think they were pretty damn good ball players.

Response: No doubt, Sorcerer was certainly playing to win but I have to second the notion that Phil treated that game like any other warm up summer game, he hit all his girls and threw who ever's turn it was to throw.


They didn't seem to figure out how to hit the big lefty.

Response: The big lefty is legit, everyone knows that, however the top of the Socerer order only got to see her once, hard to figure someone out when you only see her one time, in real game they would get more looks at her. Now having said that Ricketts is good enough to shut down anybody so who's to say that more looks would have helped them, only time will tell.


If you can't hit her, you won't beat them.

Response: True enough, and again I would love to see those Sorcerer hitters get 3 or 4 cracks at her in the course of a 7 inning game to see what would happen.

Player for player, they match up very well.

Response: Absolutely, Bob has done a hell of job putting together a very nice squad I expect them to qualify and do well in Oklahoma. Sorcerer looks strong as well, watched them all weekend, they can club the ball that is for sure and if they can pitch just as strong they should do well in Oklahoma as well.

So, it'll be a fun summer. There was about 5 teams that stood out over everyone else, and it seemed that they all match up well. Some have better pitching, some hitting, some with great speed and defense. It was some good softball out there this weekend!

Response: I was impressed with the San Jose Strikkers, they had a very nice pitcher and a incredibly pesky line up who kept constant pressure on the defense with overall decent team speed. Was also impressed with Sorcerer' speed, that offense has a mean combination of speed and power.

Sorcerers have good ball players, they are better, phil was treating the game like any other game...blah, blah ,blah
for all of you sorcerer parents who believe that your kids will get another crack at the lefty for 3 or 4 ab's are in dreamland because Mumma will bring in as many college players as he can to replace your DD's. My friends DD's have played there and he does it every year. That will not be the same team in a qualifier or national this summer.
So if there ever is another match up ...strong chances is that your kid won't be playing!

I understand they batted 14, but if not mistaken, they all hit quite well. Your right about seeing the pitcher a couple times through. Might have made a difference. Don't remember who pitched for them, and I don't really know who they consider their #1, but it was a decent game overall. as well as the Sorcerer, Strikker game. Stands were packed for that game, and both teams played a great game.


So, I agree with you about the Strikkers, Sorcerers, and Sting impressing. I also was impressed by the USA Elite team, they had some decent pitching. Teams that disappointed me were the Strikezone, and the Shockers! They both need some big additions, and knowing those coaches, they're coming. No way Strikezone is staying the way they are, coach will go nuts.

If you are going off the sting/sorcerer game, as the reason for having the sting on top, you might want to look at the line ups that were put on the field. I know for a fact that Phil did not show Bob his strongest line-up where as Bob pitched his best and hit nine. It will be interesting when the game actually means something.

Sting did seem more "in it to win it" more then sorcerers but if you were to compare both teams...both teams have studs that can hit bombs, incredible speed and great defense. It comes down to pitching to win this one and I think Sting just might have the strongest pitching staff in Nor Cal.

Question: Does anyone know if Arioto will be coming back to play for either Sting or Sorcerers?

Hey, hard to argue that point, the Sting have a great pitching staff to say the least, and with Ricketts leading the way on the hill they will be incredibly formidable to whom ever they would match up against. So giving them the nod right now as the #1 club in Nor-Cal I can not contest that, sounds about right to me.

I will tell you this, a Sting vs. Sorcerer game is one that I would pay to see, talk about two solid Gold teams going at it, with some great match ups. The beauty of it is, it will be settled soon in-between the white lines and I expect it will be very fun for us fans to watch.

Don’t know where Arioto is going to play, I know I'm around the park quite a bit and I have heard nothing on that.

What do you mean they are going to settle it between the lines?

I heard that ASA is going to follow the NCAA and put in a BCS system for 18G softball!

Settling it in-between the lines means they will settle it on the field in a game.

I enjoy the debate, I enjoy all the speculation, but eventually these teams will play it out on the diamond and who's the best or who's the strongest will ultimately be settled on the field by the girls, the way it should it be, and all the talk and speculation will be just that.

BCS System, sounds interesting, how would that work?
