Coaches cant wear jean shorts?

What's on your mind?

You're right, in Indiana it doesn't matter. I've seen a female 3rd base coach that wasn't even wearing shoes. That's a true story!

Well.. you can tell a lot about an umpire when he walks out looking like a slob.

Same thing can be said about a slob of a coach who has no pride in himself or his team.

So jean shorts makes you a slob?

I personally don't like jean shorts or flip flops on the field, it looks unprofessional. The weird thing is I don't mind gym shorts. You know, the uniform: team shirt, clean & neat gym shorts or khaki's, ankle socks, turf or tennis shoes.

Good, good, good, bad:

It is a NFHS rule that coaches must wear school colors, and that cutoffs or any type of jeans are prohibited. High School Coaches will not be permitted on the field in jeans. It is not an ASA or USSSA rule.

Yes, coaches wearing jean shorts is very slobbish.

Also does a new inning start immediatily after the 3rd out of the previous inning? I just read in the 2007 ASA book that it does but I had parents telling me otherwise as our girls were rushing onto the field and I stated the new inning has already started

In Georgia, the umpire may have considered you way overdressed for the occasion...I'm sure an umpire here in SoCal would have me change if I were to wear...say...a tuxedo...it's drawing undo attention to the coaching staff. The jean shorts may have been too new....or may have been purchased from a store other than Walmart...or maybe the HP demanded that the jeans have been cutoff....I don't know...

BTW: Your parents are wrong. The second the final out of the inning is recorded, the new inning has begun...

PS: Don't play the "SoCal looking down their noses bashing the southerners" card....I'm from South Carolina....lived in Georgia....and am the biggest Braves fan this side of the Mississippi. 90% of my relatives are from South Carolina and they comprise approximately 4% of my family's combined IQ.

Depends on what kind of a tourney you are playing in. Here in the hinterland, we haven't been able to wear jeans shorts in ASA district, state, regionals etc for probably ten years. Invitationals usually don't care as long as you pay the entry fee.
I agree with "wade" about coaches who have no pride in their appearance. My daughter's volleyball coach (female) often wears flip flops. To me it looks unprofessional, or should I say, it doesn't seem like you can take her seriously.

District? Regionals? We're citing rec ball examples now?
