Kruk is the best thing that has happened to women's softball broadcasting in years. Kruk's actual commentary on the game/players/coaches, etc. instead of the annual big group hug is refreshing.

John's different, not necessarily better. Yes, he is doing the job of a color man. He gets into trouble when he starts getting into softball specifics.

I heard from sources that Kruk volunteered for this assignement. I've always wondered why women announcers felt like they had to sound like they are calling the Little League World Series intead of the Women's College World Series. The camera work still needs upgrading and the field reporter is laughable, but maybe this is sign that next year they will dump Mowins and Mendoza and put Kruk, Joe Morgan, and Cat in the booth!

You're kidding. Joe Morgan is just as bad as Tim McCarver and he is absolutely terrible.

AFA the ladies, I think it isn't so much a matter of manner, but the substance. These folks in the box will use anything to fill air time. It probably wouldn't hurt if they ran these folks through a couple of umpire clinics just to get a feeling of the rules. That would probably cut down on half the mistakes they make. It wouldn't exactly hurt if they understood that you don't need to fill every second with some type of sound.

Wow - was Burkhart incredible or what. The focus she showed is a great example for all the kids. When you watched her early on, the thought I wrote in my game notes and that went through my mind was 'she was not going to be denied'. Obviously their sticks lit up the night as well - it was a full team performance. I had to reach but seeing Bailey Schroeder get that 7th inning hit was my highlight from the Aggie side. Of course, our family rooted for the Aggies but my kids were born in the Phoenix area and my wife went to ASU - still very painful.

That was possibly the most dominant 2 game performance I think I have ever seen. Take nothing away from Gibson and A&M they have a great softball program and for Burkhart to shut them completly down for 2 games was unreal. I think at one point I heard the announcers say she had only allowed 2 runs over 9 games.

I really hope the Aggies pull this off. What a show of Texas softball power, all but 1 player on the A&M roster is from Texas (and most from the south ). Gibson is awesome and she has shown that she can do it all, unlike most other pitchers at that level. ASU will be a tough one to beat though, so my fingers are crossed.

Well, the show is OVER!! They got smoked by a roster full of California and Arizona girls(11 California girls, 11 Arizona girls!!). West Coast STILL dominates!! Nice try though.........

Congrats to ASU, Burkart and Cochran. They definitely had A&M's Number. Considering the outcome and the fact that it wouldn't have ment anything I give Gibson and the aggies alot of credit for pitching to Cochran. In the name of sportsmanship they showed her alot of respect but didn't back down against her and ultimately the girl was able to do what she worked so hard to do and hit.

Now if the score would have been 3-4 ASU then the tone and opinion of this post would be totally different

The WCWS was a pretty one sided deal... hopefully the teams outside the Pac10 step up a little, that just wasnt even close. The only emotion I felt after the game was feeling sorry for all the crying Aggie girls. It simply was not a competitive final series. Maybe they should change the bracketing so that two Pac10 teams could play each other in the finals.

wadeintothem, seems to me the two teams that needed to 'step it up a little' were UCLA and Arizona seeing how they were beaten by two SEC schools: UCLA losing to Florida, and AZ losing to Bama. I was happy seeing different conferences in the WCWS. It gets a little boring seeing the same ol' teams there.
