Is this Normal, Bush, or Illegal?

What's on your mind?

Thanks for all of your input! This just seemed to bizarre to us that I had to find out if others had dealt with it!

Nothing shuts up a 12 year old like a 55 mph fastball to the helmet's earhole

I've seen this called in Travel Ball games and HS games. The umpires cited a rule that no noise or noise makers may be used during the delivery of the pitch (by the offense) and no noise or noise makers during the batter's swing (by the defense). We've even seen it during games coming from the bleachers.

Had the same situation this weekend, one team with the "ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, choooooo" cheer when the pitcher came to the pitcher's plate. Didn't bother the pitcher at all!!! In fact, I saw her wipe her nose with her non-existent sleeve when she stuck out a batter. I had to laugh, no just smile.....

ASA has no such rule governing fans or noise makers.

I have heard tell that its on the agenda for 2009.

The only thing even close to what you are stating involves a team member/coach employing tactics to cause an illegal pitch (NFHS also has a similar rule).

You have to remain calm , remember most umps don't like beggars. The batter that waves the bat in the pitchers face with a 3-0 count will only enlarge the strike zone and bush leaguers that use unsportsmanlike tactics do the same.

I heard that team does all that kind of crap (including having a third baseman getting right up in a BR's grill before the pitch, screaming) - and then wants to pray with you after the game.

It's amazing what a couple good beaners will put a stop to. Pitcher to coach in dugout "Sorry coach that sneez thing or that hollering thing startled me, so could you send someone to get that girl some ice for her ribs!"
