PA. coach resigns over suggestive text messages

Skarp, I'm no wingman just a parent that thought TNL got a little reprieve from comments like yours, these girls have been working very hard and have put up with alot at tournament and friendlies, like comments, starring,and hearing remarks about TNL shouldn't be able to compete, it was hard for them. When heybucket removed the post it got a little better and when you have small post I'm sure there will be alot more comments after it.........well I would just hate to see them have to go through that again.

What I don't understand is do they not think they'll get caught? Some people just don't think...

They shouldnt even HAVE too think. These are teenage girls that trust you!! No WAY should you break that trust!!!

Nzane to think that they (guys who prey on younger girls) believe it is okay. These men feel that it is okay to flirt, and or text to underage girls. Girls trust their coaches. To have a coach betray the trust in this manner is so traumatizing.

For the record, I'm actually a big fan of your girls, having been greatly impressed by the talent and competitiveness of both your 12's and your 14's whenever I have seen them play.

This would be much less of an issue for me if I hadn't had to look at that guy virtually everywhere I saw TNL play throughout the season. If the organization wanted to mitigate fallout, it should have kept him away from the fields and girls instead of front-and-center (and obviously unrepentant). To suggest that comments made here are more detrimental than that is nothing short of absurd.

And did you really believe that this wouldn't come up again when recruiting fired back up?

It's a shame that his conduct negatively impacted and continues to negatively impact the girls, but those types of things invariably do. All the more reason to shine a light on it and prevent it from occurring again. Now TNL is posting for players, so the parents of potential recruits certainly have a right to know 1) what happened, and 2) how poorly the organization responded to it.

If it's classless to put that information out there, then so be it. I'm comfortable wearing that hat.

btw: I was unaware that Heybucket removed any posts on this subject. If so, I'd love to hear the basis for that decision. (Unless they were the posts by that one goofball who repeatedly posted the lengthy, incoherent rants...in which case no explanation is necessary).

Last night I happened upon a TV special called Hot For Teacher. It started out covering why so many women are crossing the line with their students. But, then it has an interesting segment about a cadet that was molested by her much older commander at a military HS. He was "all that", former cop, leader at the HS and had a street named after him. Anyway, he groomed this 17 yo female, by promoting her quickly, hiring her as his "aide" and winning over her family. He was controlling and threatening to her, telling her that no one would believe her if she accused him of anything. But, he was sending her text messages and she told her mother. Her mother went to the FBI and the teacher was picked up after he paid for a hotel room that he had planned to meet the young lady at.

The guy took a plea deal and received 30 days in jail and 10 yrs. probation and had to register as a sex offender.

The girl was ostracized at her HS! Adults phoned and threatened her. No one came to her defense. (and this guy had pled guilty). She had to leave school and be home schooled. Unbelievable.

The over all message was to look for a person that is taking an unusual amount of interest in your child, he/she is a popular person, they strive to become part of your family, they contact the minor directly, everyone "loves" them and no one suspects them. Some are single, some are married, some are the same sex as your DD (or son) - but generally they have no life outside of the sport (or class) they are coaching and feel like they "missed" some big opportunity in their life (major college, MLD, top job, etc.) They are looking to fill a void.
