In general, ASA teams are "hands down" better than the Little League Major Division girls all-star teams. However, I believe the largest youth sports organization on the planet is Little League Baseball and I am certain the folks in Williamsport have a say in how the girls are given some national tv time. ESPN gives some tv time to the girls... of Little League Baseball/Softball.
Keep dreaming... maybe someday the ESPN viewers can see how great the girls game is. Until then we can all enjoy the folly that is the female version of the Little League World Series (played at a facility with a grass infield).

From the San Francisco Mid-Peninsula Area, I only know of one LL Softball program.
It started a couple of years ago in a city that did not have a softball program, and that LL controlled all the fields. I am not sure who they actually play. This area is ASA dominant.
I also agree with the comment regarding the televised 12U LL World Series.
My therory is that it has to do with the contract they have to do the boys LL series.

Little League , It is , what it is.....They do not claim to have the best players. They are trying to build good, honest, ethical young ladies through softball. Little League will not ever say they are better then ASA on the field. For most little league is a building block to ASA or something else.
They are on TV because of baseball, we all know that. This topic comes up every year, with the same responses. Everyone wants to compare the two and complain about why ASA 12U is not on TV. Little League has a better national name then ASA, to people that have no intrest in softball.
Little League Softball give 1000's of dollars charity. What does ASA do?
Little League WS is an event. Not like ASA nationals were its all about bragging rights and money.
Little League pays room,travel ( including air), and board for all teams starting at regionals.

One will play college ball (smaller D1) next year and the other hopefully in 2 years. Little League did not hurt them at all. They have gone back since they left and voluntered.

Excellent post, Fasterpitch. To those who think the popularity of Little League on TV is primarily due to the quality of play, the event will continue to perplex the travel community (both in baseball and softball).

In the tricities area of Los Angeles (Burbank, Glendale & La Crescenta Valley), the ASA B program doesnt exist other then La Canada (its ASA C, not ASA B), which (not long ago) would clearly carry less in talent and had girls double dipping with LL being the primary when the AS deadline arrived... there are a decent # of girls in the 92-95 age groups from this area that are now playing ASA A ball and played LL. Not sure where the talent in that area is at now, but up until 2-3 years ago LL dominated ASA B (in that area) in spring.

I guess what I was talking about is ASA corp. in OKC. They have to be making alot of money. I would also think that they are giving away money and scholarships to someone. We just might not know about it.
