What ever will wii do?

What's on your mind?

by catdad » Tue Dec 23, 2008 8:58 pm

Are these rec players or travel players?

Are they part of a local Wii association or just a bunch of freelancers?

I really think some of these injuries could prevented if these kids would get on a good stretching, exercise, and weightlifting plan. Of course you would first need to clear this with your family physician, school nurse, and your Wii coach. Also the plan would have to be overseen by a pediatric exercise specialist who is very careful about not overdoing it with the younger kids.

Most good Wii players also have a good specialty coach. You wouldn't believe how many of these injuries could be prevented with good form and proper technique.

I know this is not a complete list, but at least it is a step in the right direction to stop this madness.

With the help of the Heybucket community surely we can make a difference this Christmas season by spreading the word of the dangers of Wii !!!!!!!!!!

The demise of Wii can only mean one thing... Americans everywhere will return to the safety of the couch, the remote, and keep getting fatter.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Anon, not just Wii, but all activity type activities, soccer, softball, swimming, baseball, etc. and keep in mind repetitive motion injuries working the remote, getting up from the couch to get more chips (knee injuries), and not all couches are that safe either.

I think the big question is how did we of the boomer generation survive, we who did not have the benefit of air conditioning, color tv, etc. and were forced to stay outside all day playing baseball, and riding our bikes (without helmets and those mandatory multi-colored tights and cleats) that are a must today, swimming and surfing from sun up to sun down, its really a miracle.

Which inevitably leads to the "When I was your age..." speech, which makes me feel old. :o

But I wouldn't trade my midwestern childhood - baseball in the spring and summer, football in the rain and snow of fall, and ice hockey in the flooded back yard during winter - for anything the kids have today. It may well be a miracle we survived, but damn if it wasn't magical!

You didn't. I see the boomers at the fields and most of 'em look pretty f****ed up to me.

Rumor has it that USC will fully fund a women's Wii team in 2010, joining a conference that includes Washington State, Miami, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Wake Forest, TCU, SMU, and Tulane.
