Let them make their own choice after a sweltering game at 3pm, puke in the bathroom for 20 minutes, and swear they will never drink one again.

Not on a game day.

Recently, blogs across the world wide web reported that Vitaminwater was banned by the NCAA because of its use of impermissible ingredients. Various sources stated that the NCAA banned six flavors of Vitamin Water, including "Rescue," "Energy," "Revive," "Balance" and "Power-C." Among the laundry list of impermissible ingredients in these beverages are guarana-seed extract, caffeine, glucoasamine and taurine.

No matter how much you condition after 3 or 4 games in a day kids get metally and physicly tired. Should they drink monsters or rock stars to fire them up during games? What are the pros and cons?

Nothing documented, but I don't think it is a coincidence that HS athletes have died by unknown causes and they started after these drinks came out. Know of a friends son passing out and got in a car accident - he had to have a heart monitor for a year. Dr. told him all the energy drinks he was talking (4 a day) over worked his heart, body just shut down.
I took them once when they first came out in college to help me stay up and study, I was ready to ram my head through the wall. My heart was racing so fast and my head couldn't keep a straight thought that I couldn't focus on anything, wasted night of studying and the crash was worse yet.
I was 22, so I can't see it being that helpful for pre-teens or teenagers.
JMO - I know plenty of people love these drinks, just think too many negative side effects for young kids to take. As for the adults to each their own.

Reminds me of the 80's, but it didn't come in a liquid
