What's on your mind?

>> and your oldest will be getting ready to make her impact at her new school..that has got to be exciting!!!!! <<

Thanks but she is just a junior, she gets to spend one more year in high school ball. Next year should be an interesting year.

 I didn't enjoy that "luxury" this year. All we got from DD was "I'm glad this f'n HS crap is over. Now I can dump this F'n High School ball BS and play real ball. It's time for the real world."

 She was nice enough to call me at 4 AM this morning from the local Wafflehouse to let me know she survived the Hanger and the Dungeon. So, I don't need the "get out free" card yet.

Donnie,

Don't end the countdown. They are already bringing back the number thread. Find something else to count. Days to nationals, days till K goes to the prom.

We are gonna play 18U this summer we look forward to seeing you and your dd's out there.

Here is the disappointing thing. After a season of being told they 'dont have heart' - and then put it in the paper that they 'laid down' , can you imagine this group of kids, the kids who battled through injury and sickness to battle through the losers bracket to win the RMD, the kids being called by the RMD blues, the 'gutsiest group of girls he had ever seen', and now we have to get their heads up. I consider it an honor to coach a group of kids like this - the hard thing for me is remembering how they looked when this started and look at them now.

And the AD at the school, considers travel and select ball programs to be the worst thing to happen to softball. He thinks that the travel coaches are the scourge of sports. Oh well.

Its a good life lesson - I live in a very tough world of private enterprise - where success is rewarded and failure is punished. It is the way I live - and I have a feeling that with the economy going the way it is, a lot of punishment is heading my way - but its the real world. The girls will learn from dealing with this - in the real world, you cant leave a goofy screwed up travel team to go to another....wait a minute, yes you can, you can go to a different job or opportunity. Well, unless you work in the government - maybe thats the point.

We will hopefully get everyone's heads up again and laughing - if anyone can do that, my kid can.

The thing I missed most during your exile was being regaled with stories of your
petite flower.
"I'm the walkin dude, I can see all the world!
Twist your minds with fear, Im the man with the power.
Among the living, follow me or die!"

my oldest kid might have played her last softball game yesterday when her hs played their last league game.
4 yrs on varsity went really fast.
there is an outside chance they can get an at large bid for the playoffs based on their total record over .500, but not sure...
she has been asked by a local community college to play next year, but she said she doesn't want to...
she is going to go to that cc, so who knows, but i am not holding my breath...
Maybe she'll miss it and change her mind, but if not, that's ok.
time to get a job!

in two years, we will start the process again with my youngest kid...that time around might be a little different, but only time will tell...
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

What about TB? She may surprise you! Mine has fallen in love with mixed league slow pitch and also plans on playing intermurals (sp?) at her SatCo.
