First, a disclaimer....my DD played a tournament in Tennessee this weekend that had maybe 60ish total teams from 8u up to 16u, and it was a big tournament to us, so bear in mind that I'm just an ignorant hillbilly

#uno, I understand your point, and I would like to think that ASA would recognize the issue and maybe assign number of berths depending on how many teams are ASA registered in an area or something. Obviously there shouldn't be as many berths in South Dakota, for example, as California. But, at least to my way of thinking, the team that wins a berth to nationals from South Dakota should actually be from South Dakota. So, give South Dakota one or 2 berths, and California 10, or 20, or whatever.

(disclaimer #2....I have no idea about the quality of softball being played in South Dakota, I'm just using that as my example because of this post)

Sigh..... I still think that 12 year olds playing softball should be mainly about the girls having fun and enjoying the experience, while making friends and doing something that is a lot better (IMHO) than what some kids that age are into, and just maybe developing a love for the game and the skills necessary that they can continue playing for several more years.

First of all I can't believe that this thread is still going on and on...Gabe is one of the good guys, so maybe you all should meet him and know him before you talk about him!

I have been in girls fastpitch softball for almost 25 years...seen the good and the bad of ASA softball. Going to an out of state tournament is not a bad thing! You have to remember that these tournament are "open" tournament for anyone to come to. Each state has their own tournament for their own teams to get a berth. Some states do not even get enough teams for that tournament, and it will go to the Host team, that was going to host the tournament. So california is NOT taking their berths. I have seen many CA teams at out of states tournaments from CA. Some teams even hide or keep it to themselfs where they are going, till it is time to go.

Believe it or not some states love that Calif teams come, so that they get a chance to play a good team. Yes, some states do not want to see us at all. LOL

But please do not put down one of the good coaches that we have left in our softball world here in California. Good luck to every California team that maybe out trying to represent California. Be safe in your travel and bring it home.

That is funny, it is hard to compete when you can add subtitles. All fun and games put aside I promise you that I have nothing to do with the Sliders so talk all the crap you want me to but keep them out of it.
I am sorry that I used them as an example but I just remember seeing their post. Can you teach me how to add those subtitles?
