#uno, I understand your point, and I would like to think that ASA would recognize the issue and maybe assign number of berths depending on how many teams are ASA registered in an area or something. Obviously there shouldn't be as many berths in South Dakota, for example, as California. But, at least to my way of thinking, the team that wins a berth to nationals from South Dakota should actually be from South Dakota. So, give South Dakota one or 2 berths, and California 10, or 20, or whatever.
(disclaimer #2....I have no idea about the quality of softball being played in South Dakota, I'm just using that as my example because of this post)
Sigh..... I still think that 12 year olds playing softball should be mainly about the girls having fun and enjoying the experience, while making friends and doing something that is a lot better (IMHO) than what some kids that age are into, and just maybe developing a love for the game and the skills necessary that they can continue playing for several more years.
