I was going to say the same thing as Sam. At the point the parents made a scene, what you told the child is no longer valid, which is really sad. Parents need to learn that their actions impact the child as well.

I'm not crying. I'm sharing a story. If you don't want to hear it, don't read it and mind your own business.

1. If something is your "own business" you might wanna leave it off a public discussion board
2. A little over sensitive aren't we? (makes me wonder how outrageous this coach who offended your sensibilities really was).
3. I just offered my opinion based on years of experience. But if you have it all figured out after one year of travel ball, more power to you.

We were at a tournament this weekend, not softball. Our team did pretty well, they missed the championship game but was playing for third. The team we were playing we were told that the coach had been ejected and not allowed in the gym, (believe it or not this coach works for the Dallas Cowboys as security!!!) but the team would be allowed to play. If any funny business came up the game would be called and the other team disqualified. Of course us parents didn't know this nor probably should we have this was our coaches call. Anyhow the game I felt went well, the game was ref'd well and both team were very competitive. We ended up winning by a few points not a blow out by any standard. The other team parents were pretty loud during the game and obviously held a grudge against ?? I don't know who to put here, the tournament, the ref's I don't know. Anyhow during the congratulatory hand shake one of their players punched our coach in her wrist rather then slapping her hand, and no I don't mean touch knuckles I mean pull arm back and punch. Immediately the coach said, hey (#32) just punched me. The girl was obviously mad about the outcome of the game and said if you wanna see a punch and at the same time pulled her arm back to hit our coach in the face, luckily the gym manager grabbed the girl and put her in a bear hug. You can imagine that all heck broke loose in the gym. The player's (#32) mother jumped up and ran across the court, and started jawing at our coach. Our coach exchanged a few words with her, mostly denying she had a problem with the girl other then her being punched by the girl. Our coach turned and bent over to pick up her bag so she could walk away from this very aggravated parent and as she bent over, the mom pushed her and then punched her in the neck!!! Now things got crazy!!! both sets of parents now are up and running and have to different agenda's. Our team is trying to make sure our girls are safe and away from that team while the gym staff are asking the other team to leave. Those parents were just in our faces screaming at us telling us how much they were going to hurt us! As the other team were asked and helped out of the gym they kept yelling at our team to come outside so they could jump us?? The police were called it was their word against ours, finally they got to the gym supervisors to questions them and they agreed with our story. This was several hours later charges were filed etc. Our coach has had to go to the doctor, she has a neck injury, its better but still having to have treatment. This team is sponsored by Nike Basketball Camp. They were out of Dallas, Texas. We had to have police escorts to our cars because of the threat of being jumped. My DD was pretty scared, she was worried they would have guns or knifes. Of course I explained to her that they had just come off a plane the likelihood of having them was pretty low, this is not something I want my DD to have to worry about going to play ball. We have been doing several sports for 10 years with her and we have seen a few mouthy confrontations but never seen it taken to this level and by a player against a coach....obviously you can see that apple didn't fall far from the tree. This kind of behavior is just uncalled for, its just a game, yes its important but important enough to fly across the county to another state to get arrested and then have your daughter think this is ok?? Makes you wonder.

According to the rules, the player is ejected and CANNOT BE SUBBED, and her spot on the roster is an automatic out.

What rules?

Not ASA rules. You can sub for an ejected player (presuming you have a sub) in ASA.

In fact, you have to sub them.

If you only had 9 players and a player was ejected, you lose by forfeit. You cant finish shorthanded due to ejection.
