Keep it in perspective..........throwing hard didn't get Monica Abbott her national title. IMHO not that it matters, a combination of both velocity and ball movement is the key to sucess.

I've seen this before and think this is crazy for A ball. Although these pitchers would have our girls on their toes the first go around, they would get seriously injured on the 2nd time.

MG, there's always the super fast exception, but sounds like she's at what we see too.

Seriously, 12U in A ball are all over the place. The good pitchers IMO are throwing in the 51-55 mph range WITH movement and a good change-up/off-speed. We have not seen any pitchers yet this season throwing much harder, but I'm sure there are a few out there...

Last year at 12U Nationals in Roseville the fastest pitchers I saw were throwing between 58 and 61 mph. Most were throwing in the mid 50s. I did not see anyone clocked at 64.

12u b girls are throwing 45-low 50's with really one pitch "fastball."

12u A girls are throwing 50-55 on AVG with several pitches. I am sure there are a few throwing harder then 55 but not many and i bet most have been playing up in 14u A until qualifying time.
