18 Gold Question

What's on your mind?

by Sam » Fri Sep 26, 2008 10:02 am

Fourth: Anybody that knows the Gold qualifying procedures knows that the 64 teams deserve to be there. Changing Region 14's Gold classification won't upgrade the level of play at Gold Nationals.

Fifth: Anybody that knows Gold recruiting knows that a relative few 16U players get recruited...its almost all done at the Gold level. When Surf City rolls around in Fall 2009, how many newly classified Gold teams will want to play 18A teams? None. So the "Gold" teams will play the "Gold" teams and the 18A's will play with themselves. And all those girls that are shut out of the process, playing on 18A teams, won't get recruited to play at the level the would have had this change in classification not gone into effect.

Sixth: I'm neither a genius nor an idiot.
Run your mouth when I'm not around
Its easy to achieve
You cry to weak friends that sympathize

The "Gold" moniker doesn't have the meaning it once did and trying to legislate players or teams out will not regain it.
Just nuke 18 Gold and have an 18U division like everyone else.

Alrighty now, The news I got today was all Regin-14 Gold teams that qualified for 2008 natls. are grandfathered in for 09', There will be 2 qualifiers held in So. Cal. for teams seeking "Gold" designation. I was not told how many spots were available or how many teams would qualify at these tournaments. I would like to know what criteria will be used to keep this "Gold" designation.

PS DD's team is good as gold
