What do these states have in common?

What's on your mind?

Playing in a dome comes with the territory in MN. My DD's 14U team will have played 65 games inside a dome from Oct-April.

Good tennis shoes work well. Turf shoes are best. No metal cleats obviously (no give). Regular cleats work ok.

Warn infielders to protect themselves. Bounces off turf are almost always higher than normal.

I'd really suggest wearing pants and/or sliding pads on both legs, girls report that sliding on turf can produce burns on exposed/dragged skin.

FYI,

If you can get you draggers/bunters to bunt fair on turf they will find it ridiculously easy to do so on dirt. Turf has little resistance to roll so any ball that looks like it might go foul usually will, also balls hit to the gaps in the outfield almost always make it to the fence for the same reason.

"fastpitch7" hey, we are playing in a tournament in a month in an air supported dome. never been in one before, should be an experience.

not even sure what type of shoes to have my DD wear.[/quote]

Definitely take your tennis shoes. You should bring your cleats (non metal) too to see if they will work. The dome we play at in Fort Wayne has the best turf I have encountered, allowing either type of shoe.

thanks Stubs.

it will be interesting....the way the balls bounce, sliding?, pitching area/rubber, wierd playing on a field without a dirt infield,

better than just practicing all winter long.
