Louie Hernandez has been coaching for the past 15 years in multiple divisions and in many different atmospheres from Travel Ball to Rec. Every year during his Rec. Ball experience, he has worked with and coached girls within the All-Star teams of La Mirada. His knowledge and awareness into the game of softball has led him to be apart of many dominate teams and championships over the years.
His understanding and intellect has encouraged and moved many girls and teams to achieve levels and abilities that has brought out more than the best within themselves, and the people around him.
Louie and his oldest daughter Christina, have also appeared in an array of travel ball Qualifiers and National tournaments ranging from Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin, Washington, and South Dakota in the following 12, 14, 16, and 18 & Under Divisions.
While coaching his oldest daughter Christina, they were both apart of So. Cal Blaze / So. Cal Instinct in 1999, with Roger Williams, they achieved their first
12 & Under Triple Crown victory. The following year they joined Rick Carwell with American Pastime.
During 2001, their first year in 14 & Under, they teamed with Scott Holeman with the Straight A's, winning the
National Qualifier in Wisconsin while Christina was accredited with All-State recognition playing Center Field. At this point Louie and Christina coached and played along side Ashley Esparza (Penn St.), Amanda Sais (Hartford), and Liz Vega.
Immediately following the season, remaining in the 14 & Under Division, they joined Fresno Force with Bryan Poacock and his daughter Kristen Poacock. Starting in February 2002, their second year in 14's, they began a four year run on through the 18 & Under divisions qualifying four times for Nationals with San Diego Thunder. In 2003, Thunder won State with Taryne Mowatt pitching and Kristen Poacock catching.
Here Louie helped coach along side Tom Dodd (San Diego Thunder) as they teamed up with Lisa Dodd (UCLA), Gina Liomitti (Cal), Crystal Vieyra (Fullerton), Amanda Sais (Hartford), Linda Wells (Notre Dame), and Taryne Mowatt (University of Arizona),
who Louie has also caught for as the team won State in the 16 & Under division.
"I Like how Catching for Mowatt is one of his achievements" LMAO Both Louie and his daughters have worked with softball icons such as Doug Finch, who has helped with their pitching mechanics, while they attended infielding lessons with Howard Kobata. In later years, Christina played 16's with the Bat Busters (Gary Henning) and later joined Team Smith (Julie Smith) in 2005, playing 18 & Under. Between 2001 - 2005 she played in the Colorado College Showcase tournaments, all four years.
Anthony began coaching in 2006, helping out with the 10 & Under La Mirada Girls All-Star team, led by his father Louie, after graduating from college with his Bachelor's degree that previous spring. His responsibilities were coaching pitchers and bringing forth strength and conditioning. He and his father then coached in the Fall to help their team to a 17-1-1 record in the 12 & Under Division.
The following Spring season, Anthony then entered the 10 & Under division to assist Manager Mark Moreno to an upliftling 15-1 record which brought forth an exceptional 10 & Under All-Star season. The team had a 31-3 winning record, one win away from entering Nationals in New Mexico losing to Fullerton Hills.
Entering the 2007 Fall Ball season back in the 12 & Under division, he teamed together again with his father. They continued to raise coaching levels having a 20-0 winning record which also included winning the well known Turkey Tournament hosted by San Pedro, going undefeated with a 6-0 record. That season is accredited to exceptional pitching by Nikki Oviedo and Valerie Alvarado and their unparralleled defense which can not be forgotten.
The following 2008 Spring season, Louie and Anthony again coached in the 12 & Under division. Having only drafting one true pitcher Nikki Oviedo and coaching up another to become a consistent back up pitcher, they structured a solid defense led by Cynthia Navarrette and Rachel Shumaker. They finished with a 9-5-2 record finishing with the 2nd best defense in the division.
Their futher success preceeds them...
So if I read this right his daughter never made it to college. He quotes everyother players school but never mentions his daughters. I also like the schedule on the website it's nice to see some openings on a great coaches schedule
