Sports Drinks

What's on your mind?

by imaz » Thu Sep 08, 2011 1:02 pm

Water will hydrate you. Sports drinks will hydrate, but will also provide calories and some electrolytes. The best way to add calories to your drink is with sugars; HFCS, sucralose, maltodextrin.....

There are some companies that are making tablets you put in your water which add electrolytes - mostly salts and potassium. Brands that I know are GU, NUUN, Sportaktive, and there may be a few more. You can also buy electrolytes in pill form, kind of like a good old fashion salt pill. Hammer Nutrition makes Endurolytes, and Salt Stick makes some pills too.

Either way, there are a ton of options. Sport drinks are not bad, good way to add some quick calories when you're burning them. That said, sport drinks are bad when you are not burning calories.

I drink coconut water before any workout or during a game as a great alternative to sugary sports drinks. It is really yummy, all natural and comes in different flavors other than just standard coconut.

Here are a couple of links with nutritional facts, more info, ect..

Hope this helps!! :D

Bad form Kassey.

Blatant advertisements go on the front page and in emails to BruinsHomer after a monetary arrangement with Uno.

RipIt should be a sponsor here anyways given the amount of pro-mask threads with direct Rip It recommendations.

Being a "noid" would imply an unreasonable fear- considering Joe, Josephina, Fred etc...... Nothing unreasonable about that fear :)

Hello everyone,
I just got hired at RIP-IT and they wanted me to contribute to message boards and I wanted to add my input on this post. New the the message boards, wasn't trying to do anything wrong! I was just jumping into the conversation. I was not trying to sell anything, but my opinion on an alternative sporting drink! My middle name is Michelle and last name starts with a W :) thats why! I am not trying to act like someone I am not. Let me know what the issue is here and what I did wrong? Thanks!

Kasey, I was just giving you a hard time.

Seriously though, go back to your boss and tell them they need to sponsor HB. Lots of us are Rip It customers and others will be.

Plus if Rip It becomes a sponsor, I can justify wasting Uno's bandwith.

Not to mention that Rip-it has a, shall we say, less than savory reputation for having employees post as end users on chat boards to try and drum up excitement for their products.
They regularly spammed eteamz and the posters pretty much got driven off the site.
Not saying that is your intention, just giving you some background. Anyway, welcome
