Speierman played for the Renegades the summer before heading off to Michigan.

Yes she did but I do not believe the Renegades paid her way!! They also finished 33rd that year at ASA Gold so I guess it doesn't always pay off - no disrespect intended toward Speierman, she is a good pitcher :)

Speaking of best pitchers and Michigan, I'll see your Gatorade Player of the Year and raise you to three...

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - Sara Driesenga of Hudsonville High School has won her third consecutive Gatorade Michigan Softball Player of the Year award. The senior right-handed pitcher and first baseman has led the Eagles to a 37-2 record and a berth in the Division 1 Region 2 semifinals against Rockford High School scheduled for June 11. At the plate, she is batting .471 with 11 doubles, nine home runs, 42 runs scored and 55 RBI.

Driesenga is the 2010 ESPN RISE National Junior Softball Player of the Year and a two-time Division 1 First Team All-State selection.

She is one of only eight players nationally in the award's history to earn Gatorade State Softball Player of the Year honors three times.

Played travel with Beverly Bandits. Hutch got a good one. :D :D
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Her dad is not the coach of the Dixie Chicks. Also, why does she need to play in Colorado to get noticed? We are in a bad economy right now. I am assuming that she does not want to go to California and pitch and all that. She can hang with the best of them. She already has her ride at Virginia Tech. She wants to go there and pitch, and she played on the East Coast. So why would she need to go out there?

The Dixie Chicks are a lot better than you guys think. They beat just about every team they play. They have a pitcher that can shut down anyone.

If there are teams willing to pay for her to play with them, what does the economy have to do with anything?

Most top players want to prove they are top players by playing against and beating the best, be it pitchers or hitters. JMHO
