YHBT. You Have Been Trolled. Who would have thought? A troll that starts topics that are controversial topic and then takes positions to keep the discussion lively.

7 pages and in the main discussion area. Not just a texas drive by. Getting better.

Eventually all forums face determined trolls. Trolling always goes away eventually. Trolling been around, and has even been called trolling since 1987.

If you check their standings page it will show you who they have played every single year and all of their records. When they do play tough competition they usually beat them. I am not trying to have an argument here. All I am saying is that the Dixie Chicks have a very good team. Their pitcher has had tons of publicity and is the best pitcher from the state of VA right now undoubtedly. Everyone knows her name and she usually gets around 15 strikeouts a game. They have beaten a lot of teams that go out to the ASA Nationals pretty solidly. I see why you are saying why do they not face stiffer competition, but I do not believe why they should have to go out there and play. Do you really need to spend all that money and time to go to Colorado? If you win, great. Those teams are the best of the best. I do know they tied the West Virginia Diamond Dusters who won one of those tournies out in Colorado. That should show you right there that they have a pretty solid team. They beat the Carolina Curve as well, they won a lot of tournaments this past year along the East coast.

I agree Arto, I mean this has to be a joke - really?? Who does this and is serious. If it is a serious post - Wow a little modesty would be nice  :? Maybe she should just by pass Virginia Tech and go straight to the US team. ;)

Inthecircle88 - No disrespect intended but who are the WV Diamond Dusters??? Who are the Carolina Curve?? I went through the last two years of their 18U play and did not see one team that has played at ASA Gold Nationals or PGF the last two years. The Colorado tourney the Diamond Dusters won?? It sure wasn't the Boulder Independence Day or the Aurora Fireworks tourneys at the 18 level. That would be saying something. I am sure she is a good pitcher but you are just making yourself look stupid. I wish her nothing but the best in her college career and, who knows, maybe she will succeed at VT.

PS - Colorado is not only about the competition but about the 350 college coaches there that are recruiting. Why would you not want to go to one of the most heavily recruited tournaments in the country?? Don't you want your players to get seen??

Wagners Gold and Vienna Stars went to ASA nats last year with Wagners finishing somewhere around the middle of the pack and the Stars going 0-2. I hope the kid does well at VT but as someone who lives in VA I find this thread kinda

My Bad. I wasn't at ASA the last two years. Competition at ASA Gold is not what it used to be anyway :( So two teams out of the last two years of competition - over 160 games??

I know of 2 recent State Gatorade POY from East Coast that can not make the starting lineup on their college team. So being Gatoade POY in the state of Virginia is the not the same as POY of Georgia, Alabama, Calif and Arizona ect.
They are Average at Best

Ok all of the teams from Virginia that go to Colorado never have any of there kids go to UCLA for softball. Why would parents want to spend a bunch of money when they know their kid does not have a great chance of getting into one of those schools? They end up playing close to home and actually have realistic goals.

Not always the case. Great players come from all over the U.S. Look at where MLB, NBA and NFL players come from. Just about every state. Hell, didn't a kid from Alaska named Trajan Langdon play basketball for Duke a few years ago? I think it is probably tougher to be an elite softball player when you're from a less populated state simply because the kid doesn't have the opportunity to compete as much with/against top talent. I would also be inclined to think the softball POY from CA, Texas, etc. is a bigger deal than from some states but I think there are great athletes that have come from every state. West VA is hardly a hotbed of basketball talent but Jerry West ("Logo") made it to the NBA.

But yeah, if I hear a kid is VA POY I'm not exactly thinking she is a sure bet for the national team just based on that info. But I also wouldn't assume the kid lacks top level talent without more info. I just think InTheCircle is not terribly aware and has fallen prey to the fallacies of hope.
