Catcher preference using a Firstbase glove or catchers mitt?

What's on your mind?

catchers 14u and up.....what's your preference using a Firstbaseman glove or catchers mitt while catching? Assuming pitcher throws 55 +. What model do you use? Time to get a new glove and feel like I'm seeing more and more Firstbase gloves being used.

We are Excluding the A2000 which breaking in takes forever and large man hands to use which my daughters don't have.

Thanks in advance.

14u and older, the pitchers will be delivering pitches faster than 50. I know the a2000 is a hard glove to break but that is true with any quality catchers mitt. You might consider buying a 1 new and 1 used and broken in. That's what we did for my daughter and it worked out great. You might also consider the Rawlings HOH, depending on what organization your daughter plays for they might not allow it. :D

Get a catchers mitt-unless she's playing first base

They call it FIRST BASEMANS MITT for a reason.. Use a CATHERS MITT to play catcher.

Invest in a good mitt and take the time to break it in! My daughter preferred a catchers mitt that was easy to break in and had very little padding (she wouldn't use a glove or a pad either. She used these gloves (pretty much a new one each season) for many years. She is 7 years out of college and is just starting to get the feeling back in the tips of her fingers on her catching hand. Like I said - invest in a good glove, avoid nerve damage.
