Question for Donnie

What's on your mind?

by 18'sdad » Mon Mar 24, 2008 8:18 am

Donnie I read on here where you refered to the team your dd played on as the 8's. Is this the South Texas 8's out of New Braunfels?

18'sDad, yep she does. This is a team that Scott Smith (bombers) put together - our idea was to find a place during the high school season to play for the 8th grade kids that play on older teams. We thought about just having her sit out and practice during the spring until her sister and the rest of her teammates (South Texas HotStuff ) get back (GP, Robstown, TM, Callalen, Roosevelt (San Antone)) etc. from the playoffs. But Scott and I talked about this some time back, his kid and my youngest play on older teams so we did the 8's thing and she had a blast with the bomber kids.

She doesnt have a lot of weekends with track and tennis taking up a lot of time in the spring, but when we have an open weekend, she is playing with them, until the end of April when regular high school season ends, then its back to HotStuff. She truly had a lot of fun with them and its been good for her because the Bomber group and our group have been what I would call fierce competitors since 10u days. I think the bomber kids have had fun having her on the team, Scott said he did too, at least before K broke his hand. (sorry Scott, you are going to take kidding for that for a long time)

If you are there we will see you this weekend. Hopefully it is late in the the day on Sunday.
It should be a pretty decent tournament this weekend. There is some fairly strong teams signed up. 8's, Crush, Stix-Myrick, Blaze-Prizno, 94 Bombers, Austin Storm just to name a few. Should be interesting.

We have track, district tennis meet (saturday) , and Confirmation class at church (Sunday) - we wont be there. We live down in Corpus so its 2.5 hours one way, I would love to change that.

Which group are you with?

Stix Myrick

Good advice don't leave the beach to Austin, San Ant. area. You will forever regret it.

Thats right and my newest granddaughter definately looks like a ball player. She is a little young now (10 weeks) but she shows all the signs, good hands, feet already look like she is in a rocker position - just gotta get her away from son and daughter-in-law and take her to the field. They live a mile away, I will get my chance.

My niece had a baby (girl) recently and I sent a ball glove. Evidently, the dad's family thought I was nuts. Oh, well.

Amy,

You are nuts...you don't know if she's righty or lefty yet! A bat would have been a better choice! :D
