Why is it so quiet at socal ballparks?

What's on your mind?

by norcaldad » Mon May 12, 2008 3:54 pm

After two tourny's below the mason/dixon line (oh alright below bakersfield) I noticed the P's and players respond to the game like a fans at a golf tournement, polite opera clap after their kid lays out to snag a screaming shot through the gap? Teams also seem to do little cheering and are very quiet. This normal? It sure seems like the games are much louder up north. Or is it just me? And I'm not talking about and I will apologize in advance for my less sophiticated neighbors who feel cool beverages, and loud rap music are a natural combo and are apperciated at the ballfield.

That's just standard fare at our games down here...nothing to really get excited about. ;)

You should have been at Tezzlaff Middle School in Cerritos for TCS Mother's day Tournament yesterday when Riptide played San Diego Renegades. A great game with the fans in softball heaven ITB Style. Great Game and the parents having a great time.

I too have experienced games where the girls are screaming and other times just cheering quietly. There is a difference between cheering and or being rowdy. I believe there are parents who don’t want to develop a bad reputation for their daughters and or teams. I do agree with Spazsdad, some teams just bring bad blood and bad attitudes with them. This is just my observation…..

Personally, I think we could use less cheering and more quiet and opera claps. 8-)

No Sir. I dont come down that way often. I think the only HOF qualifier I'm working is the 16UA in Turlock.

He's the coach...why shouldn't he pump up his team's name. And what's it to you, anyway?

To answer your inane question, the team went 3-2-1, with 4 defensive shutouts, beat a very good Lil' Rebels team, and was one pitch away from eliminating the excellent SD Renegades (lost in ITB). Maybe not a big deal to you, but the tournament was a milestone for the parents and players on Riptide (more so than our tournament win in Hemet). So there's no reason why the coach shouldn't be able to give them a little press if he is so inclined. The kids earned it (and the parents paid for it  ).

And anyway, his answer was accurate and responsive to the OP...the stands were rocking on both sides in that game. Lots of fun for all.

Why shouldn't a coach pump up his team's name? After a Sunday like that I think it is in line and we did finsh 5th on the day. Pulling off a tough win over a well respected Lil Rebels team and taking the favorite to win San Diego Rengades to ITB. You must be bitter because you left early. PUMP IT UP, PUMP PUMP IT UP, PUMP IT UP GET A HIT GET A HIT !!! :D :P
