How will you prepare for nationals?

What's on your mind?

by dallasfungo » Mon May 26, 2008 7:28 am

So, you've won your berth, have the travel arrangements completed and have your roster finalized. There are roughly 55 days until you leave for nationals. What's your strategy to prepare?

Add practices per week or maintain your regular schedule?
Step back for a comprehensive review of your spring play or keep the throttle open wide without a look back?
Take a deep dive into the offensive stats? Are your most productive offensive players really who you think they are? If not, do you change your lineup now?
Work on new tactics that you haven't tried or focus on getting better at what you already do well?
Teach players how to execute something new? (New short game skills, cross-train a defensive position?)
Take a week off of practice to give everyone time to recharge?
Install a couple of gimmic plays?
Put the enitre team on a fitness program to build stamina for the August heat and humidity?
Focus on scrimmaging the best teams in your area or look for tournaments?

How will you know your team is ready?
[i]Wow, a "full ride" at Bugtustle State College to play softball. Let me know how that degree looks on the resume.

Those are all good ideas.
Keep the girls focused.
Maybe play up, even if it means getting spanked by older teams, to make sure they don't get too relaxed.
Also more conditioning once school is out, to make up for the down time...
Save money!

good luck to all the teams.
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.
