Bad Side of SB

What's on your mind?

by USCSoftball? » Mon Jun 23, 2008 5:02 pm

I need to vent!! My daughter is a pitcher and she can hold her own. That has been the problem. She has been holding an entire team for two seasons. We came over to a new start up team so she could develop her pitches and get alot of innings. The first season was rough, but she got experience. We were at first unsure about the head coach and if he knew what he was doing, the assistant coached was pretty well experienced it seemed. The head caoch said he was going to go and get players to help the team. We let about five girls go and only brought in two who could play. But we did ok in the fall, maybe it was the tournaments we were in not sure. At fall's in again he said I am going to make changes, well the spring came and we let girls go and brought in girls with even less talent. So our spring/summer has been awful, yet my daughter kept plugging away. She would hold teams with no runs no hits but only to have her team provide no offense and then make an error and cost us the game. The coach begin to accuse her of losing the ball games. It finally came to head and she decided to leave.
Also along the way we lost the assistant coach who we now know was run off because he knew the head coach knew nothing of softball.

Now my daughter is filling in for the remainder of the summer for some teams and it getting herself back together. I think looking back my wife and I trusted this guy because we thought he knew what he was doing, and we went blind into somethings. But when we begin to question him this summer we were placed on the back burner and ignored by everyone on the team, by the way who are all new. After speaking with people who had left the team, we found out they all had questioned him and were sent packing. We thought we were being loyal to the team.

I suppose the lesson learned, find out and pay attention to who coaches your kids.

Ugh...I hate to be blunt, but do you have any idea what you are doing to the reputation of pitchers' parents everywhere with this post?
Do you have any idea the damage you are causing to your kid's experience in a TEAM sport?

Sorry, but any halfway decent coach who asks around will RUN AND HIDE when they see you coming...I don't care if your kid throws 65 mph, which I'm fairly certain she doesn't...
The flag you raise could not be any redder...

It is impossible for me to agree with artomatic any more than I do.

When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!

Now here we have an interesting collection of statements. You play on--nay, carry--the team for 2 full years yet still claim to have gone in blind, and apparently weren't able to determine over that period of time that "the head coach knew nothing of softball?"

Methinks thou art a 'tard.

Thank you USCS. Whenever I think I've started the most whiney and self indulgent thread in the short history of HB, someone like you comes along to top it. It's almost always a parent of a TB pitcher to boot.

Is it just me or when does anyone else think of the tell all book by Chico Escuela (sp), "Bad Stuff 'Bout the Mets" when you see this thread title.

Damn...I'd love to be able to come back at you on this one, but I just quit playing my XBOX (kicked some serious butt at Forza--which isn't nearly as good as Gran Turismo on Playstation, but is still pretty dang good) before reading your post.

So yeah...you got me. I'm an idiotic dweeb who doesn't know jack about sports, my kid sucks at softball, no way I could ever get in to a school like USC (still make minimum wage--or would if I could find a job), a strong wind would probably blow me over, and neither my Rogaine nor my E.D. medication have had the desired effect.

In fact, the only thing I have going for me in this miserable life is Heybucket, where sure as the sun rises I can always find someone even more pathetic than myself to laugh at. Thanks bud...you truly are a lifesaver.
