Someone at TNL did thier homework. Much better to mail a check to VA and play Sat/Sun local friendlies with home cooking then wasting travel money. be interested to know the logistics and time line of how they entered vs. plane tickets/team expenses(refundable vs. non-refundable) but whatever..... think about it. And I think TNL has a good enough group to compete there, so its not like some B team showing up for a spanking....

Point is, I think any So-Cal team that has a legit shot at ASA Nats SHOULD take advantage of any possible avenue to get there if its in thier goals and budget... and the earlier the better.... ASA purposely makes it difficult with the limited # of berths at states for the size of the region.
