First day of High School Softball, and the DRAMA begins!

First time poster, long time reader. Today I got a phone call from the familly of one of my tb players. The player was upset that at the first practice today, she was called out in front of the team, and told that she should not be playing on her current travel ball team, that it wasnt tough enough, challenging enough, and that she wouldnt learn anything from me. Then to cap it off he told her that she should go to HIS tryouts this weekend. Now I do not know this coach, he has never been to one of my practices, never seen me coach. He does know that I am a Varsity coach in the same league as he is in, and that I recently cut a player whos mom he is very friendly with. Now that the CIF assosiation rule hase been eliminated, he is not breaking any rules, however he is trying to strong arm a 13yo girl. She and her familly are very worried that he is going to keep her back if she doesnt do what he says.

Have a feeling we're going to be hearing more and more about this type of thing once everybody is in school and the dust settles on player movement.

"Plan Spazsdad" seems a good alternative if you can't get things worked out.

My kid works out with a D-1 coach and she confirmed that HS means squat when it comes to recruiting. And it's not like they have time to go to hundreds of HS games when they can see pretty much everybody worth seeing at tournaments and showcases.

I find this to be true. DD just started her senior year and will run her 4th year of track this spring. College coaches that were recruiting her never blinked. It was barely talked about.

This subjuct really pisses me off. 2 of my players went threw this last season & my DD has been listening to this same kind of thing for over a year now. Travel ball is horrible, school ball is more important....... That is BS!!!

I strongly urge any parent of an athlet to stand there ground & do what they think is best for there child. These so-called coaches of the High School are only interested in one thing. They really dont care what is best for your DD. All they want is to pad there records.

DD is a Freshmen this year & School ball starts in a few months. My wife, DD & myself have talked for close to a year about what to do & how to handel our HS coach. It ultimalty was DD decision but I will be damed if I let some Math, Helth or Drivers Ed teacher that has rode the coat tails of some tallented travel ball players that came threw there program tell us what to do with my child during summer. We made our decision & are standing behind it. If the HS coach dont like it then DD WILL NOT play HS ball.

Listen to people that have been threw it before. Talk to recruiters & to collage coaches. They all will tell you that HS ball is only a social thing & dont carry any weight in what collage your DD can play for or if she will be able to play collage ball.
