The mad rush before the 1st of the year

What's on your mind?

by NumeroUno » Tue Dec 16, 2008 1:07 pm

I have talked to a lot of people and heard about a lot of girls that are looking for new teams. Now that fall is over people are looking for greener grass.
How many teams in your area have lost players or are looking for new players after fall?
Who can come up with a list in your area of teams that are looking for players?

I have never heard of a team that wasn't always looking for better players. Maybe not out recruiting but most would not turn Players away at anytime during the year. Of course there is more movement at the end of each season.

Your eyes and ears are always open but some teams are set with the players they have.

Thats right who would say no to or doesnt need a #1 pitcher or catcher, a fast slapper or utility player at anytime, even if you have a bunch you wont say no to them trying out for your team. I expect to see familiar faces on different teams as well. Its travel ball and plenty of girls of course cause their parents make them, travel to a new team for a "better fit".

So you can't just keep adding girls to the roster someone has to go :(

I think it depends on how heavy your roster is and is it heavy with all good talent or is there a player or two that are just filler.....A lot of teams have at least one or two players that aren't as good as the majority of the others. Just my opinion! My roster has been heavy this year but I'll be cutting back in January and if something GOOD comes along during that period I would just add at that point and not cut! I would only cut someone because of poor effort or suck ass parents..... ;)

I think a big roster is why most leave, you also have to look at it financially are you getting your money's worth? That's the way I see it if my kid ain't playing then I'll look for another team which hasn't been the case with us but if we were in that situation then we would make the change. I don't understand teams with 16-18 girls on a fall roster that's crazy you don't need that many girls on a team. If you look at some of the better teams they carry 14 max. I'm talking 16U and below I know 18G is a whole different story.

Except for most of the top teams many of the 12U teams do not have full rosters & can still add players. Even So Cal Jynx when I saw them a few months ago only had 9 or 10 players at that time and I know they were still looking, but were waiting for the right player, so had room to add without cutting anyone. Too many teams in So Cal, especially OC that teams always have room to add a good player, even if they have a full roster.

I agree with the post that a lot of parents are looking for the "right fit" (greener grass) for their dd. I think lasik surgery would do a lot better for many of them.
