NorCal Top Ten !

What's on your mind?

by DBLUE » Sat Jan 26, 2008 9:43 pm

Here's the top ten teams in each division going into hibernation.

14's

1. Lady Sharks- Hands down the team to beat this year!
2. Strikkers - Good squad, good pitching, good athletes.
3. Strkezone - Always puts out a good team.
4. Stompers - (This is for NapoleonD, not too sure about this pick)
5. Grapettes - Young, but good athletes, could gel quickly.
6. Fresno Force - They have some proving to do, might be short stay in top 10.
7. Breeze - They are always a fun team to watch, good athletes.
8. RR Gold - Heard they have a good chance to be good, let me know.
9. Mize Diamonds - Good athletes, decent pitching, coaching is the question mark!
10. Fill this in for me?

16's- Best division of them all!

1. Lady Magic- Best team out there right now, very solid squad.
2. Grapettes(Bindi)- A solid #2 behind magic. These 2 are the cream.
3. Sorcerers - Well, decent squad, but pitching is the big hole on this team.
4. Breeze - They have some good athletes, and always perform well.
5. Strikkkers - Better than I thought, good pitching, with good athletes.
6. Fresno Force- Haven't seen much of them, but always put out a good team.
7. Grapettes(Reid)- Need to fill some holes, decent team though.
8. Mize Diamonds- This team is old, and should do alright, pitching questions.
9. Strikezone- Team should be good, filled some holes from fall, we'll see.
10. Sting- Need alot of work, not as good as we thought.

18 Gold

1. Sting(Bob)- Great team, good pitching, team to beat.
2. Sorcerers(Phil)- Also a great team, good power, good speed, pitching?
3. Grapettes(Gomes)- This team can flat out hit, but depends on who shows up.
4. Shockers- Good athletes, good power, speed, and pitching will be the question.
5. Strikkers(Garcia)- Much better than we thought, speed, power, defense!Pitching?
6. Breeze(Don)- I like this team. Pitching will be the key to go along with talent.
7. Sting(Fano)- Good team, depending on which kids are left, we'll see Pitching ?
8. RR Gold(Bob)- Good fall team, with a few good pickups, could move up quick.
9. Strikezone(Don)- Needs the college kids, especially on the pitching side.
10. Fresno Force- Good team, with power, and speed.

From 3 on it could be a toss up, alot of questions with everyone, especially on the pitching side. Pitching isn't as strong as it use to be with these teams. Should be fun though. Anybody can beat anybody. The top two teams will go as far as their aces will carry them.

Always looking for input, let me know what you think. Keep it respectful though please.

Thank you for your time,

interesting picks.

in the 16U, agree mainly, but think your #7 team could very well move up right behind the #2 team with an outside chance of geting past them. and no, my kid does not play on that team either.

I would also be surprised if the 14u Breeze team ends up only top 7 in the area. For a young 14u team they have competed well against 16u.

Leaving Mizuno All-American 14u the list may be a mistake.

I do not know about anything about a few of the teams you have, but there are some very good Sacramento area 16u and Gold teams that could/should break the top 10. I will leave that to someone else here that knows the older brackets better.

I was hoping to finally see some of the 12u and 14u teams play this weekend, but it looks like it will be another week or two.

4. Stompers - (This is for NapoleonD, not too sure about this pick)

Thanks for the special mention... I don't think you will be disappointed.
Have heard stuff about the 14 Grapettes and RRGold, and if they are correct, these teams will not be on this list very long.

I will have to agree with you here as well, but do not know much about the Mizuno AA team? are they new? Never saw them play before.

In the 16's I don't know who should be taken off, but the Nor Cal Shockers (last year's CC Cobras), should have made the list.

I was surprise to see the Central California Dirt Dogs 14U was not in the Top 10. They had a good fall ball saeson. Taking 1st in the 16u Clovis Rocket Tournament and Salinas Storms 14u Halloween Bash. They also went south and took 3rd place at a Triple Crown Tournament in Santa Clarita.

You must be playing in the better tournaments, and against the better teams to really crack this top ten. The teams mentioned in the top ten, are the elite teams who consistently play in great tourneys, and play only the best competition. The tournaments you have mentioned were filled with many B caliber teams. Not making cracks on the B programs, just saying that playing in tournaments like that will not get you in this top ten. Glad your team did well, let me know if you play in any other top tourneys against some top teams, and then we can make a fair judgement.

Need help with the top ten 12s! Let me know.

Yes - started up last fall. Good players that really started to play well together late in the Fall. This season's team should be even better.

All American Sports Academy is the name reference. They are one of the better training facilities and outstanding College Prep Programs in the area (IMO). They host a few Showcase tournaments every year which provide some very good exposure to a lot of teams.

Don't know too much about this age, haven't seen too many teams play yet. But we can start with these teams.

Grapettes
Sorcerers
Strikkers
Strikezone
Breeze
Sting
Force
RR Gold
Force
Sharks

Let me know about these teams. Or any you have in mind.
