Practice?

What's on your mind?

How many times a week does your team practice? What is to much? Or to little?

16U
My team practices on Saturday's and play games on Sunday's.....During the Winter months....

We practice once during the week and again on Saturday and play games on Sunday's during the Spring/Summer months.....

If we have a tournament on any given weekend, I add a weekday practice giving us an extra day to either work on fielding or hitting or both......Pitchers are not allowed to pitch more than 3 days per week on my team.......If we have a tournament, 2 days per week!

We're a 14U tournament team, so we're playing 4-8 games each weekend in June and July.

I like to hold practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the week.

I've done the once a week practices, but that doesn't really allow to work on everything.

I try and spend one day on situationals and another on fundamentals.

If we have a weekend without a tournament, I'll add a Sunday practice.

16U - while HS ball is going on, i.e., now, its Sunday for 3-4 hours, with pitchers & catchers reporting an hour early to work together. Optional batting cage time once during the week for those that want it and can make it and whose high school's allow it - some dont.
After HS ball is over it will be twice a week

18U ... From mid Jan until HS/College Ball is over it's once a week on Sundays ... after HS Ball one week night and Sunday unless we are playing that day ... about the end of Sept we take off until Jan unless we have a tourny scheduled ... However, any time a player requests extra work we meet them ... The cages are always available, one in the pole-barn  one at our field ... Pitchers & Catchers work on their own or in addition to any work they get on this schedule

Why do teams with HS players practice every sunday 3-4 hours when they are not playing a game for 3-4 months? I can understand practicing when you get closer to summer but why practice when these HS players are already practicing 5 days a week after school and games or tournaments on Saturdays. Even in college, the players can only go 6 out of 7 days.

Probably to correct everything they were taught during the week. Hitting, Hitting, and hitting.

why waste time correcting every weekend if the HS coach is going to change it again next week.
