Just Bragging

What's on your mind?

My DD is a sophmore and the starting pitcher for her high school varsity team here in Cali. Tonight she threw 19 strikeouts in 7 innings while facing 31 batters. That gives her a total of 130 K's in 10 games and 60.1 innings on the year. That makes her currently 3rd in the state and 30th in the country (according to Max Preps). Just saying one proud Papa here.

So where are we going to see her play in college? Very cool. Congrats!

not sure yet she already had an offer from a DII college here in Cali but she said that was way to close to home.

Outstanding numbers! Enjoy the high school years, they go by in a flash.
Congrats

I have a neighbor who's kid turned down an Ivy League "scholarship/grant" to play softball because it was too far from home in Cali. Ended up at a San Diego school. I wonder if the ratio is 50-50 of kids that want to be away from home or play near to home?

DD2 turned down a couple of those. Her rules about where were something like
1) High academics (she doesn't know what she wants to study - but she doesn't want
to be where they admit anyone that applies)
2) No cold weather
3) Must be near a beach
4) Must be lots of boys - preferably baseball players, but football will do
5) Must be far from dad (but not so far that if she needs stuff we cant get it to her quickly)
6) Must have a chance, even a remote chance, to get to the big show
7) Must be far from dad (UPS delivery availability required)
8) No cold weather, no snow
9) Far from dad

She never gave me an actual list but this is based on the number of times I heard the various items.

Agree - like the others said, enjoy whats happening now. My girls have enjoyed the game at all levels - I was very happy when they said, they enjoyed college ball the most - until I heard them say that playing so many games in college means they get to miss more classes.
