Most schools respond by building up the other facility. Title ix has been around long enough that any competent administrator should know how to comply

We should all be equally rich and smart, if that doesn't work make everyone equally stupid.

Different concept. The law says you need to build equivilant facilities at public schools. The admin new this, but ignored it. The fault is not the law , but the admin

Remember. No title nine there is no softball as we know it(and no heybucket)

Title IX is like the union/EEO. Used right it can be great. Used wrong it is a form of subjugation. The Feds are not smart enough to know the difference because the law masks it.

A complaint was probably made by a local parent. The law is quite clear that facilities at a public school (even with private donation) must be based on participation and equivalent. The school administration new this(again, this is not new). It is unfortunate that the law needs to be enforced by these complaints and subsequent rulings, it is even more unfortunate that after all these years female athletes still seem to get short changed in resources in so many places and that this law is still necessary

This was in a neighboring town. First offense was in 2007. I can tell you at the time the softball facilities were a disgrace while they built state of the art baseball facilities. BTW. The softball team historically outperformed the baseball team

In my 2 local high schools the baseball facilities in both are far superior to softball. I suppose if no one complains about it, it doesn't matter.
Yet, I just don't understand destroying something that already exists because it is not equal. Sad.

For they passed a noble law

It is sad, but that choice was the school admin's.

First when the baseball parents came up with their plan the school should have let them know what was required( might have given them a chance to organize with the softball parents

Second the school could have just brought the softball field to a similar condition as the baseball field. Generally schools are given a reasonable time to do this after being cited

Be your observations about facilities is very telling- it shows that even after all these years title ix is unfortunately still needed

Tahts the thing we don't know- how bad was the softball field. My guess it would have to be a glaring difference for there to be an adverse action

Take a look in your own town/schools- How do the Baseball and softball fields compare??
