I may be walking into a trap here, but I'll bite. Even if I say something stupid, it will probably lead to an insightful correction.
I would agree that the sales pitch is pure horse-pucky (although I'm impressed by how many platitudes they squeeze into a short time and the swing demonstration they give looks more like she's hitting infield practice or two-handed fly fishing. That said, I'm not sure this device reinforces those mechanics. I've used Steve's top and bottom hand racquet throwing drills with my teams to help the girls set their wrist angle and let it unhinge passively as their hands come through the arc of the swing. Like-wise, I've used bat-throwing drills to accomplish the same thing and had them adjust their timing/arc to throw the bat to the gaps to work on inside and outside pitches.
I could see this being useful if it functioned the same way. You wouldn't have the artificial act of letting go of the bat or the racquet. I guess you could test it by having a good hitter take some swings blind-folded and see where the wiffle goes. If it goes where the hitter is imagining where they were hitting to, it might be useful. Not saying I would buy it, just saying it might function in a way that would be consistent with a good swing.
