Tera Gwaltney (Ripley, Tenn./Ripley HS): Gwaltney, who prepped at Ripley High School and played most recently for the Mid-South Rage travel team, joins the Skyhawks as a very accomplished pitcher. In her prep career she has tossed 30 shutouts, 16 no-hitters and eight perfect games. Gwaltney helped lead Ripley High School to an appearance in the 2005 district championship game and garnered many awards including being named to the all-district team three times, receiving the Elite award twice and was named MVP in 2006. Gwaltney also holds the Ripley all-time strikeout record. For her travel teams, Gwaltney helped lead her teams to over 20 tournament championships and multiple appearances on the national level.
Brittany Yates (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy): Yates, who prepped at Trinity Christian Academy and played travel ball with the West Tennessee Express and X-Treme Edge, joins the Skyhawks as an all-purpose infielder. Yates is an accomplished position player at first and third base in addition to short stop and behind the plate. In her prep career, Yates has carried a .450 batting average. She was named All-West Tennessee in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and helped lead her team to back-to-back Tennessee state championships in 2006 and 2007. She was named all-district in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was recognized on the all-tournament team in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
