That's okay. It's pretty rare for someone to accuse me of "thinking", so I'll take that as a compliment!

(Snip) No big deal, thats his job. During his time out I tell the base ump that my runner will be stepping off first base to kill the inning. Its a simple trade of one out, for three outs.

Taking a chance of course that you could be then have the game forfeited.
Subtlty goes a long way. Don't be goe pointing out to an umpire that you are about to intentionally break a rule...

Last year in a game that got out of hand, we had a Base Blue ask us to have our gals "leave early or something" ... we had to reply that "they have been for the last 2 innings" ...

A few years ago, I was BU in a HS game in early April that was a blowout - I think the score was 21-1 for the home team partway through the bottom of the 1st. The home team was decent, not great, but decent. The visitors were really bad - and they still had close to 6 inches of snow on their field.
The home team coaches ended up helping to coach the visitors.
The home team's runners would leave early in the 2nd and there were a couple of batters that stepped on the plate while hitting the ball. The visitors did not appear to feel slighted in the least. I was really glad when the game ended, but was also impressed with the sportsmanship I'd seen that day.

I think using the umpire to "make up" for a teams lack of class is a lack of class.

As the umpire, I do not want to be put in the middle of that mess If it is that much of a mismatch, the coaches should get together and approach the umpires with a plan that does not include mystery and phantom calls and rulings.

There are ways to play down and not embarass the other players. If you have a non-cooperative coach, the dominant team should just thump the living $hit out of the team and then have the players talk up to the poor team they just slaughtered.

I don't think many would disagree with you ... in the situation I described, it was just one of those games where we could do no wrong and they could do no right ... both teams were strong and if we met the following day it would be a completely different story ... but thats why you play the game ... we called off the dogs in the 2nd or 3rd inning ... then had our gals start leaving early but the Blues were missing it ... after he made his suggestion we had our gal on 3rd break for the plate while the hurler was still getting her sign ... but we never let on that it was intentional ...
