Can you sub a base runner for a DP just like a normal sub? Does this effect the flex at all?

Yes - you may enter a sub for the DP
No - The Flex is a different position on your lineup card, a sub for the DP has no impact to the Flex.

I would expand to:
Yes - you may enter a legal sub for the DP.

In any particular game, not every base runner would be a legal sub for the DP.

You're the plate umpire - are you going to allow an illegal sub to be made? I'm not and that's why I didn't add anything like that to the answer.

My bad. Wouldn't want to lead Under the Radar astray. Thanks for straightening me out.

Sorry about the late post, but I’m cruising the bucket avoiding honey-due projects. I just wanted to add to the above and address the affect the sub has.

When subbing for the DP, the DP/sub is now tied to the Flex the same way the DP and Flex are tied, for the rest of the game even if you pull the sub out. If you sub for the flex same thing. Minor point but keep it in mind. Rule 4-C-3

Ok, back to project ##.
